How we ensure it’s done.

Monitoring of the projects will be done in order to collect information about the projects and ensure that the activities are being implemented systematically against the agreed plan. This will also include reporting about external factors that may influence the implementation of the project.
Project holders will be required to send six-monthly reports to MuCAARD-UK in the following format:
1. General Context – short update on the general situation in the project area or in the wider society that could affect the implementation of the project.
2. Activities – list the activities performed. Relate these to the objectives and the planned activities in the project proposal.
3. Problems/ constraints / issues / shortcomings: financial, security, staffing, access etc.
4. What impact the project is having on the beneficiaries.
5. Any other information relevant to this period of implementation.
If the project period extends beyond one year the project holder will be required to submit a financial and narrative report at the end of each year.
MuCAARD-UK will undertake annual monitoring visits to the project sites.
At the end of a project MuCAARD-UK will undertake a Participatory Evaluation with the project holder.
The objective of the evaluation will be to:
1. Review the quality of the implementation of the interventions and provide useful recommendations for future programmes.
2. Initiate an exchange process to enhance mutual understanding identifying successful experiences and challenges.
3. The expected result will be an overview of actual achievements along with facilitating and hampering practices as identified by the partner organization themselves.

These will be translated into best practices and lessons learned regarding relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and impact of the project and the organization.
A number of cross-cutting issues such as gender and environment will also be assessed.
A participative evaluation means methodology whereby the project implementing partner are firstly responsible for designing the process within the parameters outlined above. Subsequently beneficiaries and representatives of the partner will themselves carry out the evaluation from data analysis, formulation of conclusions, best practices and lessons learned.

Objectivity and quality of the evaluation will be ensured by the inclusion in the evaluation team of qualified and well-informed review team members nominated by MuCAARD-UK.
